Need something or someone?? Call me.. I’ll see what I can do.

Over the last while between running events and my own business activities I’ve built up a considerable number of connections. I was helped along the way by some fantastic people who made introductions for me and who encouraged me to seek out particular people.

I’ve often made it fairly clear that if anyone ever needs to speak to someone or find something or discuss an idea then they should just contact me and ask, I’ll always do my best to help. Sometimes the results of connecting people are fantastic and sometimes nothing comes of it. I still find it amazing how few people actually take advantage of help like this when it’s offered. I’ve put it down to possibly the fact that people don’t know I’m willing to do this.

Well not only am I willing to do this, I enjoy doing it.

An interesting thing happened at BarcampCork, during a discussion about early stage businesses held in the MAXroam offices Pat Phelan pointed me out saying “there’s one of the most connected people in the room” I blushed with embarrassment a little but I have to say I looked forward to his recommendation encouraging people to ask me to give them a hand. That hasn’t happened much though.

So I’m writing it here officially so I can’t deny it and I won’t back out of it. If you’re trying to find something or someone give me a shout (my details are on the contact page) and even if I’m not able to connect you directly I should be able to point you at someone who can help.

If you see me connected to someone on linkedin, or facebook, or twitter or any other online network then by all means ask for an introduction. It’s not an original idea, I’m doing something that Damien Mulley kindly did over a year ago (he writes a lot I couldn’t fine the exact link). So here I find myself a year later in a position to potentially help people at a time when perhaps a lot of people need a little help. I’ll also be actively recommending people I’ve worked with over the last while. It’s time we started giving a little more credit to each other and backing the people we think are quality in our personal networks.

So my offer’s made, now it’s up to you…
